Community conversation about outdoor fire safety
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service have invited residents to join them for a community conversation about outdoor fire safety on 12 June.
Occupying a stunning part of the beautiful North Devon Heritage coast, the Parish of Alwington covers an area straddling the A39 road known as the Atlantic Highway. It stretches from the coast towards the River Yeo and includes the hamlets of Fairy Cross, Ford (with its quaintly-named Knotty Corner), Alwington and Woodtown. It also includes the privately-owned Portledge Estate, once home to the Pine-Coffin family.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service have invited residents to join them for a community conversation about outdoor fire safety on 12 June.
With the longer days and better weather the Alwington Residents Association Working party are back out and about.
The annual Parish meeting was held on May 12th at 7pm in the Old School Room. Reports were received from The Village Hall, The ARA community working party, St Andrew’s church and the ARA.
We are very lucky to have a wonderful team of volunteers who look after the churchyard and the Alwington Residents Association working group who have built the area around the Old Schoolroom into their planned works. This all helps to maintain a rich habitat for many plants, insects and mammals.
The Community Library in the Old Schoolroom has a good selection of fiction for anyone looking for reading material, including many children’s books as well as a good supply of jigsaw puzzles.
Come along to the Village Hall for hot drinks and biscuits at 10:30am. Enjoy the opportunity for a chat and to listen to the music provided by Fred Noyce.
£8 will secure you a delicious treat in the form of a High Tea comprised of savoury and sweet delights. No need to book in advance.
The quiz in the Village Hall on July 11th from 6.30pm is in aid of EduKids.
