The Grants Process

To apply for a Parish council grant you must be a charity, community group, or voluntary organisation with a constitution and a dedicated bank account, operating and providing a service to the community in Alwington.  You must provide all the information requested below.

The minimum grant will be £100, and the maximum £500.

Alwington Parish Council will not fund the following:

Organisations that do not provide a service to the community in Alwington.

Individuals or appeals supporting an individual.

Political groups or activities promoting political beliefs.

Religious groups where funding is used to promote religious beliefs

Projects that may take place before an application can be decided.

Organisations that have closed or restricted membership.

Equipment or other costs that have already been purchased or incurred prior to the application being considered.

General grant conditions:

Applications for projects where the work has already been completed will not be considered.

Grants must be spent within 1 year of the award. Any unspent monies left after this time must be returned.

Only one application per year will be accepted from any organisation.

In order to receive payments organisations/groups must have a bank account into which the which grants can be paid, payments will not be made to private individuals.

The application process

The information below must be emailed to the Parish Clerk: clerk@alwingtonparish.gov.uk

  1. Full name and address of organisation
  2. Main contact name and email address
  3. Summary of organisation’s aims and objectives
  4. Nature of organisation – e.g. registered charity, non-profit/voluntary etc
  5. Registered charity number (if applicable)
  6. Date organisation established (Only if your organisation was established in the last two years)
  7. Purpose for which grant is required
  8. Benefits to residents of Alwington Parish – Include the number of parish residents who will benefit directly
  9. Is this a one-off or ongoing project? – If ongoing, explain how long the project is likely to last
  10. Total cost of project
  11. Amount requested in this application (maximum of £500)
  12. Describe what contribution will come from the organisation’s own resources – This can be financial or in-kind
  13. Grants already received- Give name of any grant-givers, amounts given and when
  14. Other grants applied for- Give details of applications you have made to any other grant making organisations where you are awaiting the outcome
  15. Income – Most recent full financial year
  16. Expenditure – Most recent full financial year
  17. How many months’ running costs does your organisation currently hold in reserves? – State whether this is in line with your reserves policy
  18. Budget for project – Please provide a budget for estimated costs. If you are successful, you will be asked to provide a detailed report on expenditure following completion of the project.
  19. Date the project will start
  20. Date the project is expected to be completed
  21. How will the success of the project be measured?
  22. Date funds required
  23. A set of accounts for the latest financial year must be forwarded electronically to the Parish Clerk
Grant applications will be considered by the Parish Council at the appropriate Parish Council meeting. Applicants will be informed of the decision within five days of the meeting date.
